MY Sea Serpent Grand

The Red Sea is one of the leading destinations in the world of diving, and is definitely worth your attention. Our liveaboard selections will take you to the most attractive diving adventures.

Liveaboard diving is perfect for experiencing some of the best dive sites in the Red Sea aboard a spacious boat with holiday comforts and a first-rate team and crew.

We are here to help you to plan and choose your perfect Egypt liveaboard diving trip!

A good season for North itineraries are from April to November. In May and June you will have higher chances to see mantas and whale sharks, but the visibility will be a bit worse due to the plankton. From June to August, you can see the big fish and big schools of pelagic fish.

The best time to dive at Central dive sites, Brother Islands and all Southern itineraries are spring (late March to May) or fall (September to November). From June to September, you will need to go deeper to see the big fish.

One distinguishing feature of the Red Sea is that there is almost no thermocline (small difference in water temperature in different depths). From the end of December until the beginning of March, the water is 20°C/68°F, and you will need a 5-7 mm wetsuit, especially in the North. From March to July the water is 25-26°C. August to November are the warmest months, and the water can reach temperatures up to 30°C/86°F. In general, winter means stronger winds and less marine life to be found under water, while summer means more fish, sharks in the north, and in the south you will need to dive below 30 m/98 ft to find them.

The starting ports for North Red Sea liveaboard trips are Hurghada and Sharm El-Sheikh. Deep North Red Sea trips start only from Sharm el-Sheikh. The starting ports for Brother Islands are Hurghada and Port Ghalib, while South liveaboard trips start from Port Ghalib, Marsa Alam, and Hamata.

There are three international airports: Sharm El Sheikh (SSH), Hurghada (HRG) and Marsa Alam (RMF). If your safari starts from Sharm El Sheikh the only suitable airport is Sharm El Sheikh. If liveaboard trip starts from Hurghada you have to book flight to Hurghada. Marsa Alam airport is a perfect match if trip starts from Marsa Alam, Port Ghalib or Hamata. But all liveaboard operators arrange transfers from Hurghada to southern ports as well.

Be prepared to “survive” without mobile connections in remote areas. Egypt has a dry climate, so don’t forget to drink plenty of water. Logbook with the date of your last dive, diving insurance and valid diving certificate are compulsory to present at check-in. Hyperbaric chambers are available in Hurghada, Port Ghalib, Safaga, Marsa Alam and Sharm El Sheikh.

There is a lot of combinations of the routes, especially on the Central and South parts of the Red Sea. If the whole picture is still not clear please kindly ask our travel consultants from 24/7 online support team to help you choosing dive-safari which suites to your needs best.

Enjoy your diving vacation!
