If you have the time, the best way to experience Komodo National Park is by liveaboard. It is the ultimate combination of world-class diving and Jurassic Park-style adventure featuring volcanoes, uninhabited islands, Komodo dragons, dolphins cruising alongside, spectacular sunsets and tranquil star-filled nights.
Liveaboard IKAN BIRU is perfect if the idea of “dive, eat, sleep, repeat” appeals to you. Its unique hop-on, hop-off concept allows you to join other divers as you explore the park for any amount of time between three and twelve days. Each full day on Ikan Biru sees at least 3 dives, often more. Make new friends as you log some serious time underwater, sleep under the stars, and see Komodo’s best.

If you would like to explore Komodo National Park while remaining land-based, day trips are the perfect way to do so. We have three day boats, HUGO, TOBY and SIMON, all equipped with modern marine safety equipment and extremely experienced crew in accordance with marine tourism guidelines. On all boats, we never exceed the ratio of 4 divers to 1 guide (always a certified divemaster or instructor). All equipment is excellently maintained Aqualung gear, most of it brand new. Our regulators are equipped with an SPG and it is possible to request one with a depth gauge. Though not all of our regulators have depth gauges, we do offer guests the option of renting Suunto dive computers for just IDR 100.000/day. Prices on Hugo and Toby are inclusive of gear rental, snacks, food & beverage on board and towels. They do not include Komodo National park fees which are currently:
IDR 275.000/day Mon-Sat or IDR 350.000/day on Sundays bank holidays. For non-diving members of your party who would like to join and snorkel for the day, we charge IDR 700.000 to spend the day on either boat.
You came all this way and can’t forget the dragons!!!! The Komodo Dragon (varanus Komodoensis) is the world’s largest living monitor lizard and is indigenous to Komodo, Rinca and Padar Islands. Spend the second half of your day trekking around Rinca to get a glimpse of these prehistoric creatures. Your wildlife adventure isn’t limited to dragons; buffalo, Rusu deer, monkeys, pigs and horses are also commonly present. Further down the scale, indigenous frogs, snakes and lizards abound on the island, not to forget the aptly named endemic Flores Rat. As you near the end of your trek, take in the scenery with a breathtaking panoramic view of the national park.
We offer this combined trip on our speedboat. We visit Rinca, as this island allows for a much better chance of seeing the Komodo dragons due to the presence of the ranger station. It is up to your group to decide on the short trek (1 hour) or medium trek (1.5 hours). We will take care of all your trekking fees. However, we recommend bringing a bit of cash on land for beverages, souvenirs, and of course tipping your lovely ranger.
