Racha Noi – South Tip

Situated on the most southern tip of Racha Noi it is recognized as being the best place in Phuket day trip zone to see Manta rays.

This is a relatively small dive site which is prominently consists of large granite boulders which begin at about 14 meters and run down to 40 meters and beyond.

Unfortunately the site can be hampered by strong currents and has no protection from the island so sizeable waves can also be an issue for dive companies. It is often difficult to locate the reef and this site is definitely an experienced divers site only. Careful planning has to be made by the dive company and often the dive is canceled and relocated to the near by Racha Noi bay due to safety issues.

This dive site is a deep and sometimes difficult dive site and should only be done as a advanced diver. For more information about the PADI Advanced Open Water course please click this link.

Having said that the rewards are high and during the winter months manta rays can be seen more often than not.

The rocky reef is has some soft corals and and sea whips. The usual surgeon fish and unicorn fish can be found and if you are lucky large schools of Chevron Barracuda can be found.
