Racha Yai Bays 1 And 2

Situated on the north east area of Racha Yai these two bays are probably the most popular in the region for both divers and snorkelers. With a sandy floor that gently slopes from only a few meters to around 25 meters. It has a nice selection of reef fish situated in the shallows and good visibility it makes for the prefect training and beginners dive site and a great place to start your PADI Open Water Course or Try dive.

Once the home of a lot of hard corals including staghorn coral it has in the last couple of years been robbed of its former glory. This was due to an extended duration of unusually warm whether which caused coral bleaching. Having said that there are four wrecks situated in the two bays and some a nice collection of marine life that will keep most divers happy.

There is a good range of moray eels, including, clouded morays, fimbriated morays and of course the giant moray eels are there as well. Blue Spotted Rays and Kuhls Rays are there as well. Peacock Flounder are around as well as some nice schools of barracuda.

Turtles are frequently sighted as too are cuttlefish and large Reef Octopus and if you are lucky Manta Rays have been known to come and have a look at the divers as well. One of the best places in the region for snorkelers.
Dive boats go to Racha Yai every day of the week as a part of a 3 dive combo with Racha Noi. There is also a two dive trip to Racha Yai, running everyday of the week as well.

All scuba diving dive sites are at the discretion of the tour leader on the day. Dive sites are selected based on the weather conditions, currents, safety and suitability to majority of divers on the boat. We cannot guarantee specific dive sites prior to the boat departing.
